19.12.2020 AD HOC PUBLIC REPORT ON TARGETING JOURNALISTS

On the September 27th, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive against the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) during which large number of towns and villages have been targeted, including Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh. The Human Rights Ombudsman of Artsakh has monitored the developments since the onset of the hostilities. The targeted nature of the shellings, including those against journalists, was also proven by the facts that the journalists wore a special uniform and distinctive signs, as well as, mostly with cameras. The journalistic cars that came under the shelling also had the “PRESS” distinctive sign. Moreover, the journalists were targeted when they were carrying out their professional activities in civilian settlements, and not in the hotspots of hostilities.

10.11.2020 STATEMENT

Today, on November 10, at about 4:00 AM, dozens of men tried to burst into the Yerevan Bureau of “Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty” (Azatutyun Radio). The attackers knocked on the doors with their feet and fists, swore at the employees of the Bureau. According to the statement published by the radio station, the attackers said that they have come to take away the servers to stop Azatutyun from broadcasting, swore at the employees, and pushed them around. The attackers left after Radio Liberty’s employees called the police.

02.11.2020 Statement on Ecocide Alert in Nagorno–Kharabakh region amidst war between Armenia & Azerbaijan

On November 2nd, 50 Armenian environmental organizations joined their forces and addressed more than 100 reputable conservation organizations worldwide strictly condemning the usage of white phosphorus munitions by Azerbaijani military forces against the primary forests of Artsakh. In the joint statement published earlier, Armenian environmental initiative is expecting adequate feedback from reputable organizations, as well as calls to join all efforts to protect crucial ecosystems, valuable genetic resources, and rare species at the bridge of extinction found in the nature of Artsakh and prevent the potential ecocide in the region.
