Electronic FOI became a reality in Armenia. The new sub-legal act developed by the RA Ministry of Justice enables citizens, journalists and other requestors to submit electronic requests to the state bodies and get responses according to the procedures set by the Armenian FOI law. The sub legal act was developed with cooperation of the “Freedom of Information Centre of Armenia (FOICA). The new legal regulation recognizes that information requests sent by an e-mail or via official web-site of information holders (state bodies, self-governmental bodies, state institution, etc.) are considered an official request and must be proceeded as the FOI Law defines. This will make positive progress in the field of freedom of information, saving time and resources of the state bodies and citizens, and making interactions with government agencies most effective and simple.

Sub-legal act is already adopted by the RA Government. To note, we have been waiting for this act since 2003 when the Armenian FOI Law was adopted.

Information about the new regulations of the sub-legal act is avaliable here.
