OGP Armenia

The Republic of Armenia became a member of OGP in September 2011. Joining the initiative Republic of Armenia expressed its willingness to ensure transparency and accountability in the sphere of public governance and delivery of public services. Freedom of Information Center of Armenia (FOICA) is a pioneer in fostering Open Government Partnership objectives in Armenia by setting up a productive dialogue and cooperation between the Government and civil society. FOICA plays an active role in the development of the OGP Armenia Action Plan, implementation and monitoring of the implementation process against the commitments. Under 27 January, 2012 50-Ա decision of the RA Prime Minister about “Creating a workgroup in order to elaborate the Action Plan for Armenia’s participation in the OGP”, the FOICA was included in the working group.

18.07.2014 - Draft of OGP Second Action Plan was discussed

On 18th July, 2014 the OGP joint workshop was organized with the Government and Civil Society representatives. Organized in conjunction with the Government and the Freedom of Information Centre of Armenia (FOICA) NGO, the meeting provided a forum for dialogue between government representatives and civil society organizations on Armenia’s draft National Action Plan as part of the Open Governance Partnership Initiative for 2014-2016.

07.04.2014 - Open Government Partnership Dialogue Between Armenian Civil Society and Government

On April 5-6, 2014 the first workshop over the draft of the Second Action plan of Armenia (2014-2016) in Open Government Partnership took place in Armenia with 30 participants from the Civil Society and the RA Government.

25.03.2014 - The new phase of awareness of OGP processes launches

On April 5, 2014 the RA Government launches discussions and consultations on the Armenia Action plan of the Open Government Partnership aimed at making the public aware of the state events to be held during the upcoming two years focusing open and participatory governance.

Paul Maassen is the civil society coordinator for the Open Government Partnership and in that role supports independent engagement with the OGP in all member countries.

15.06.2013 - Prime Minister: No Alternative To Civil Society

On June 14, 2013, Armenia hosted the first international conference as a member the Open Government Partnership (OGP). Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan participated in the opening of “Open Government Partnership - Armenia" international conference.

On June 14, 2013, Armenia hosted the first international conference as a member the Open Government Partnership (OGP), a new multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and use new technologies to strengthen governance.
